English hospital installs Siemens MRI scanner
Berkshire Independent Hospital in Reading, England, part of the Ramsay Health Care network, has installed a Magnetom Espree 1.5T wide-bore MRI scanner from Siemens Healthcare to assist with examination and diagnosis in a variety of conditions.
Siemens said that Berkshire is using the MRI for full body scanning as well as detailed diagnostic imaging of the brain and bone structures.
With 30 cm of headroom and a 70-cm bore, the Espree ensures a relaxing scanning experience for anxious and claustrophobic patients, the company said. Siemens also said that its short 125-cm 1.5T magnet also means that 60 percent of exams can be completed with the patient’s head outside of the open bore to reduce anxiety and ensure a smoother examination process.
The private Berkshire Independent Hospital has 52 individual patient rooms and nine twin bedded rooms, all with en suite facilities.
