Texas health system deploys e-doc bedside cart from CDW
United Regional Health Care System of Wichita Falls, Texas, has launched the first phase of its electronic care documentation initiative with a customized cart solution configured and deployed by CDW Healthcare.
The company said that the documentation carts are equipped with laptops configured for wireless use, tablet PCs and washable keyboards and mice.
Medication carts were also deployed and included modular, passcode-secured storage drawers as well as specialized handheld scanners to enable proper medication administration. Caregivers first scan their badge, then the medication container’s barcode and finally the patient’s wristband, a process meant to reduce medical errors, CDW said.
United Regional is a 565-bed acute-care facility, with services that include a lead level III trauma center, cancer treatment center, cardiac and surgical services and a dedicated pediatric and level II nursery.
