Iowa hospital selects McKesson HIS, EHR

Marengo Memorial Hospital will deploy McKesson’s Paragon community hospital information system (HIS) as part of a plan to use technology to improve patient care in its largely rural service region.

The 25-bed critical access hospital in Marengo, Iowa, also will roll out McKesson’s Practice Partner fully integrated EHR and practice management solution to connect the hospital with its nearby outpatient clinic. The initiative will create a secure, up-to-date electronic patient record that can be accessed by authorized care givers regardless of where the patient receives care in the hospital’s community, according to McKesson.

The Paragon solution utilizes Microsoft Technology that reduces training time because of user familiarity with the Microsoft Windows interface, the company said.
