Patterson unit buys Dolphin Imaging, Dolphin Practice Management

Patterson Companies’ Patterson Dental Supply unit has acquired Dolphin Imaging Systems and Dolphin Practice Management in an all-cash transaction, for which the terms were not disclosed.

With estimated sales of about $13 million, the Chatsworth, California-based Dolphin is profitable and debt-free, according to Patterson, a dental and veterinary imaging products distributor. Dolphin's management and employees will continue with the company as part of the dental supply unit.

Dolphin Imaging Systems makes 3D imaging software, including digital photography and radiography. Dolphin Practice Management software helps dentists organize their schedules and finances, the St. Paul, Minn.-based Patterson said.

The products are designed for dental specialists like orthodontists, oral maxillofacial surgeons and dental radiologists.
