Magliocco named RTOG pathology committee chair

Anthony M. Magliocco, MD, has been appointed pathology committee chair for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG).

Magliocco is the director of the Translational Laboratory at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Alberta, Canada, and an associate professor in the department of oncology, pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Calgary, also in Alberta.

As chair, the RTOG said he will serve on its executive committee and work closely with its translational research program investigators, disease site committee chairs and his fellow pathologists to review the group’s research protocols, assess the necessity of central pathology review, provide technical support for translational research projects and together with the RTOG Biospecimen Repository provide guidance on the tumor banking activities of the group.

Magliocco succeeds Mahul B. Amin, MD, of Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
