German telerad provider to use Definiens lymph node CAD

Teleradiology provider Imaging Service will utilize Definiens LymphExpert computer-aided detection (CAD) software in the analysis of patient CT images from a network of 25 German hospitals.

LymphExpert supports the detection of lymph nodes in CT images, automatically segmenting lymph nodes and analyzing their properties, the company said. The application provides a precise evaluation of lymph nodes' volumetric growth or diminution over time, facilitating early and accurate detection of cancer progression, according to Definiens.

Recently launched for European radiologists, Definiens said its LymphExpert is the first CAD application for identifying and analyzing lymph nodes volumetrically and comparing them over time.

Under the terms of the partnership, Imaging Services may also become an early adopter of applications for lung and liver image analysis currently under development at Definiens.
