Michigan hospital deploys Eclipsys pharmacy management product

St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw, a member of Ascension Health, has activated Eclipsys' Sunrise Pharmacy medication management solution.

The on-time implementation replaces legacy pharmacy technology and augments St. Mary's use of Sunrise Enterprise clinical solutions for EMRs, according to Eclipsys. The pharmacy solution creates a closed-loop integrated medication management environment in support of dispensing of medications within the hospital pharmacy and at the bedside, the firm said.

"The instant messaging feature is enhancing communications between pharmacists and nurses," said David Wanner, St. Mary's vice president and chief information officer. He said that the transition from the old system to the newly installed Eclipsys electronic medication administration record occurred within 12 hours.
