SIIM: Intelerad debuts PACS enhancements

Intelerad Medical Systems is previewing several new IntelePACS enhancements during the 2009 Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) meeting this week in Charlotte, N.C.

The Montreal-based company said the new IntelePACS features are:
  • Critical Results Management, which facilitates communication of critical findings between radiologists and referring physicians. Radiologists can bypass the standard dictation or transcription processes and communicate directly with the referring physician. An audit trail is provided for all communications and the delivery of results.
  • Peer Review, which allows a radiologist to review an interpretation made by a peer. The information can be stored in a database and used to generate reports for performance evaluations and other analysis.
  • Image Quality Review (IQR), which allows a radiologist to review the image quality produced by a radiology technician. Similar to Peer Review, IQR is integrated within the IntelePACS workflow. The reviews are stored in a database.
  • Communications module, which provides radiologists with a means of communicating with colleagues, particularly for radiologists working at different sites. Messages can be sent between radiologists in the same manner as via an instant mesage application.
