Philips unveils TEE transducer for neonates
Royal Philips Electronics has introduced the microTEE, a transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) transducer for cardiac imaging of neonatal patients.
As part of the latest Vision release for the Philips iE33 echocardiography system, the microTEE transducer provides pediatric cardiologists with a diagnostic tool for imaging the hearts of newborns during procedures such as cardiac catheterization.
The microTEE is roughly one-third the size of previous pediatric transducers, at 7.5 x 5.5 x 18.5 mm (width, height, length) and a shaft diameter of 5.2 mm. It features an extended operating frequency range of 8 to 3 MHz, and a multiplane array that can be rotated from 0 to 180 degrees. The microTEE is capable of delivering pulse-wave Doppler, continuous-wave Doppler, color Doppler, XRES adaptive image processing, motion modulation and harmonic imaging in 2D, the company said.
Philips said its microTEE will be showcased next week at the 20th annual American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) in Washington, D.C. and will be available for sale globally this summer.
