RSNA: Philips spotlights imaging and informatics portfolio
Philips Healthcare (Booth 7725) will be showcasing a variety of medical imaging and informatics products at the 2009 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago.
Among the products on display will be the Philips Achieva 3.0T TX MRI system featuring the MultiTransmit technology. The new, proprietary MultiTransmit technology delivers multiple radiofrequency (RF) transmission signals that automatically adapt to each patient’s anatomy. The firm said the Achieva 3.0T TX delivers up to 40 percent greater scan speed and helps ensure fewer retakes through enhanced image uniformity and consistency.
Philips will also demonstrate the clinical and operational benefits of its Elite Breast MRI solution, which includes the MammoTrak dockable patient support, high-channel coils and integrated tools for reviewing, reporting and biopsy planning.
On the ultrasound front, the Vision 2010 upgrade on the Philips’ iU22 ultrasound system adds a new elastography solution that will be featured at the conference. The firm will be demonstrating the capabilities of the new release of the CX50 CompactXtreme portable ultrasound system--including radiology, vascular, women’s health, emergency medicine, regional anesthesia and critical care.
Also on tap will be the display of the company’s PercuNav image guidance system. PercuNav tracks the tips of flexible and rigid instruments while inside the patient and displays the instrument position, orientation and trajectory on pre-procedure and intra-procedure images. It employs 3D visualization and navigational tools to guide instruments and can generate and display fused multimodality images. Supported imaging modalities include ultrasound, CT, MR, PET/CT and rotational fluoroscopy.
Philips will showcase its DR and fluoroscopy room solution with two digital detectors, one in the vertical stand and one in the table of its EasyDiagnost Eleva. The firm will show the solution with the updated Eleva user interface for full digital integration of CR and DR.
The company is also highlighting 3D imaging with MultiDiagnost Eleva, its MultiDiagnost Eleva with Flat Detector digital C-arm, the Veradius mobile C-arm, the Essenta DR system and a wireless flat-panel detector designed for the firm’s DigitalDiagnost.
Rounding out the interventional section of the booth will be the newest Allura Xper family release, which highlights improvements in both imaging and workflow to support a full range of procedures. Multimodality integration will be highlighted with the latest 3D tool kit from Philips. The company said its MR/CT Roadmap synchronizes live fluoroscopy with previously acquired MR angiography (MRA)/CT angiography (CTA) datasets to reduce x-ray dose and contrast media use. In addition, XperGuide Release 2 can overlay live fluoroscopy on MR/CT images for needle image guidance.
Moving to the molecular stage, the company is displaying its BrightView XCT, which integrates Philips BrightView SPECT in a co-planar design with flat-detector x-ray CT technology. Also scheduled for demonstration is the developer’s Gemini time-of-flight portfolio of PET/CT systems.
Philips CT will display new enhancements for its Brilliance iCT. Software applications exclusive to Philips, such as Liver Segmentation Analysis, will be demonstrated on the Extended Brilliance Workspace. The application automatically segments the liver and the hepatic portal venous vessels and includes a semi-automated tool for segmentation of the hepatic lesions, and advanced 3D treatment planning tools, the company said.
In addition, Philips CT will expand on the clinical applications and utilities of the MX 16-slice CT.
Philips will also be demonstrating enhancements to its iSite PACS. The iSite application portfolio now includes: Volume Vision, CT/MR Vessel Explorer, CT Advanced Vessel Analysis, CT Pulmonary Emboli Assessment, CT Colonography, CT Cardiac Analysis, CT Advanced Brain Analysis, CT Lung Nodule Assessment and PET/CT Viewer. Additionally, iSite continues to offer an open application programming interface (API) that enables integration of clinical applications from other vendors, Philips said.
Earlier this year, Philips launched the MammoDiagnostVU mammography workstation. The company is now extending this to the launch of the Integral Breast Workspace--a multimodality, multivendor workstation that brings together mammography, ultrasound and MRI studies that will be highlighted at the meeting.
Lastly, the developer will be displaying and discussing enhancements to its Pinnacle SmartEnterprise configuration, which leverages thin-client technology to centralize a Pinnacle radiation therapy planning system. In addition, the SmartArc platform that integrates photon, electron, stereotactic, brachytherapy, simulation, image fusion, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) options and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) planning, will be demonstrated.
