Valentine becomes Cerner's COO

Michael Valentine has been named as executive vice president and chief operating officer of health IT company Cerner. According to the Kansas City, Mo.-based company, Valentine’s position had been changed from executive vice president and U.S. general manager, effective Jan. 7.

The position of chief operating officer was not filled prior to Valentine's appointment, the company disclosed in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

Valentine joined Cerner in 1998 after working as an executive in telecommunication and technology industry groups with Accenture Consulting.
