Kansas taps HP for $119M medical management contract

The Kansas Health Policy Authority (KHPA) has entered a $119 million two-year technology services contract extension with HP Enterprise Services that includes two one-year options.

The contract extends HP’s eight-year relationship with KHPA, which oversees the Medicaid and HealthWave programs for more than 300,000 Kansans. HP said it will continue to manage the KHPA customer service call center in Topeka, which annually processes about 250,000 calls primarily related to billing and payments.

HP will enroll providers, process claims and provide Medicaid management information systems maintenance to assist the state in keeping the system current with state and federal requirements. In addition, HP will provide surveillance and utilization review for KHPA to detect overpayments, fraud and abuse, said HP, of Palo Alto, Calif.
