N.Y. provider selects EMC, VMware backup and recovery software

Health Quest, a health system based in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., has installed virtualization and backup and recovery technology from EMC and VMware.

The provider has deployed VMware's vSphere virtualization platform and EMC's NetWorker backup and recovery software, EMC Data Domain deduplication storage systems and EMC Avamar deduplication backup software. The technology combination has reduced Health Quests's backup time frames from four to five days to 12 hours, according to Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC.

In addition, EMC said its Data Protection Advisor will help Health Quest generate quarterly audits reporting on backups and recoveries by devices, data, applications and success rates.
