CACI lands $91M contract for VA EHR initiative
CACI International, a provider of professional services and IT for defense, intelligence and homeland security, has been awarded a contract by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for its Virtual Lifetime Electronic Record (VLER) initiative.
Under the terms of the blanket purchase agreement—which will be rolled out over five years and carries a ceiling value of $91 million—the company will work to develop an across-the-board solution to consolidate the medical records of Armed Forces members in an electronic database available to all VA and Department of Defense facilities and providers.
The database also will be available to civilian medical offices, according to the Arlington, Va.-based provider.
CACI’s involvement with the VLER initiative will support 10 health-related IT programs which are being brought under a single management structure, including the Nationwide Health Information Network, the Health Data Repository, the Administrative Data Repository and the Clinical Health Data Repository, the company stated.
