Joint Commission, AHA boost certification alliance
As of next February, the Joint Commission (JC) and the American Heart Association (AHA) will expand their collaboration to provide special designations to organizations giving “next generation” stroke or heart failure care.
Certified primary stroke centers and heart failure programs will be offered designated seals from the JC and the AHA to display the merit. Additionally, primary stroke centers will be highlighted on the AHA’s website.
The organizations claim the alliance, which began in 2003, will assist patients seeking state-of-the-art hospitals for stroke and heart failure care. Additionally, a coordinated set of support services will help facilitate care through online virtual networking and trend reports will give the JC the ability to evaluate performance on standardized measures.
