DICOM Grid Launches its Medical Imaging Software Application in Europe and Fosters Global Collaboration Among Cancer Specialists
Phoenix, AZ (August 14, 2013) - DICOM Grid, provider of diagnostic image management, viewing and transfer solutions, today announced the availability of its web-based application in Europe.
DICOM Grid welcomes HOVI, a leading international virtual oncological hospital based in Spain, in collaboration with Era7 Software, a division of Era7 that offers tailored software development to the biomedical sector, to its growing list of customers.
“DICOM Grid’s image sharing application positions HOVI to assist the growing number of patients using the web to find specialists and possible advice as to the type of treatment required to cure their illnesses,” said Dr. Enrique Aycart, Medical Director of HOVI. “The ability to send and share medical images online fosters a global collaboration and helps to connect our network of experts.”
HOVI will use DG Suite, DICOM Grid’s solution for secure sharing of medical images and reports, and to distribute critical imaging information to an oncology specialists network which calls upon a global network of experts in Europe and Asia.
"We searched for the best available storing and sharing solution for DICOM images to integrate with the applications that we develop for HOVI. DICOM Grid was selected for its robust features and easy integration with our software,” according to Dr. Eduardo Pareja, CEO of Era7.
DICOM Grid also announced it recently completed the U.S. Department of Commerce's Safe Harbor privacy protection certification process.
Safe Harbor certification is a program developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission to assist U.S. companies in complying with the European Union's Directive on Data Protection. Requiring adherence to seven key principles relating to data access, transfer and security, certification provides the public with an assurance that participating companies deliver the highest levels of data privacy protection at all times.
"We are excited to report that DICOM Grid is now certified with the U.S.-European Union Safe Harbor Framework and the [U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor Framework] as set forth by the Department of Commerce regarding the collection, use and retention of personal information," said Morris Panner, DICOM Grid CEO.
