‘Thumbs up’: Pa. newspaper editorial board weighs in on tomosynthesis coverage
After Pennsylvania patients complained about receiving extra out-of-pocket charges when they underwent tomosynthesis screening as opposed to traditional mammography alone, Gov. Tom Wolf announced these additional charges would no longer be assessed to patients in the state.
In response, the editorial board of the Reading Eagle newspaper in Reading, Pa., gave the move “an absolute thumbs-up.”
“[T]he more advanced the mammography, the more compelled we should be to cover it,” they wrote. “It's ethical health policy, and it's sound financial policy.”
