FDA expands clearance for Barco’s Coronis Uniti display
The FDA has cleared the Coronis Uniti diagnostic display from Barco for use with breast MRI, CT, breast ultrasound and other ultrasound indications, including vascular and gynecological ultrasound.
The display had previously been approved for viewing PACS and mammography, including tomosynthesis. The new indications approved by the FDA make the Coronis Uniti the first diagnostic display cleared for viewing all types of breast imaging exams, according to the company.
Radiologists can now run side-by-side comparisons and image fusions during interpretation, combining ultrasound with conventional mammography, for example. Barco said it developed proprietary technology to automatically set color and grayscale settings based on modality, even when multiple types of exams appear onscreen simultaneously.
