eRAD Deploys PACS and Integrated Speech Recognition at Roseland Community Hospital

GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Roseland Community Hospital, based in Chicago, Ill., has successfully deployed the eRAD cloud-based PACS, with Integrated Speech Recognition, as part of its commitment to using the most advanced imaging technology available. eRAD, a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. and a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions, delivered its RIS, PACS, Integrated Speech Recognition, Mammography Module, and RADAR, its tool for clinical communication. The sale was made through RPS Imaging, a value-added distributor of eRAD technology solutions, servicing Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Roseland continued to access data during migration. No down-time was necessary since eRAD’s cloud-based architecture was utilized during migration. “This successful system replacement was a significant event for our hospital and the Radiology department. Deploying this new PACS system without disruption to Radiology services and patient care is a great accomplishment,” said Mariusz Mazek, VP of IT and Support Services and Chief Information and Security Officer of Roseland, who managed the implementation. Mazek explained the key factors that drove the selection: “We were looking for a solution that encompassed all different areas of the radiology market—from cloud-based technology to virtualizing local caching to using M*Modal Speech Recognition for image interpretation and reporting. It was also important that we have a system versatile enough to integrate with our Meditech Electronic Health Record (EHR). The eRAD system is already delivering anticipated productivity improvements and financial savings.” eRAD can use a variety of methods-from HL7 and APIs to DICOM Modality Worklists-to make data available, usable, and shareable across the Roseland network. That sophistication runs behind a very easy-to-adopt user interface. “We didn't want to have to invest a lot of time training referring physicians on a system that is too complicated. With eRAD, we allow access for outside physicians to view images, and there just aren't any questions. For internal physicians, we are utilizing the eRAD API and HL7 within our EHR,” said Mazek.“It’s a great product, and what sets eRAD apart from other PACS companies is the support," said Conrad Brown, Director of Imaging Services. “You ask a question, it gets solved. If there's not an answer, they find it and call you back immediately. My favorite thing is that it isn't just a business conversation. You talk a few times, and you build a relationship.” Radiologists are now able to use the tightly integrated M*Modal Speech Recognition to complete a report to final status 200% faster than with the previous system. The fully integrated Mammography Module provides a full toolset for breast imaging and eliminates the need for a dedicated mammography workstation. Tim Egan, CEO of Roseland, is committed to this kind of improvement. “This state of the art technology enables us to give the best care every day to the Roseland Community,” he said. Seth Koeppel, Senior VP of Sales at eRAD, said, "We are excited to expand our installed base with Roseland Community Hospital. They appreciate the ability to have a full diagnostic Mammo Viewer, along with M* Modal and a cloud-based PACS. eRAD provides all the tools a radiologist requires of a robust viewing solution." About Roseland Community HospitalFor more than 85 years, Roseland Community Hospital has provided comprehensive healthcare services to the community on Chicago’s far South Side.
