Royal Philips acquires PathXL, hopes to boost digital pathology industry
Dutch healthcare technology company Royal Philips bought the Northern Irish pathology image analysis firm PathXL, Royal Philips announced June 21.
PathXL’s programs will join Philips’ Digital Pathology Solutions in an effort to offer a better product that will help bring more medical institutions into the digital pathology fray.
Philips Digital Pathology Solutions General Manager Russ Granzow explained in a statement their new, combined program will be a better option for “computational pathology, education, workflow solutions and image analytics” than either one was on its own.
“With this acquisition, we are accelerating our drive to support global medical institutions in their transition to digitized pathology workflows,” he said.
