ZDi introduces patient positioning device for radiation treatments
ZDi Solutions has recently announced the release of its Z-System, an add-on to radiation therapy devices to optimize patient positioning during treatment.
The system, designed by the Knoxville,Tennessee-based manufacturer of patient positioning devises, includes the Z-Box, Z-Square and Z-Tilt, all developed by Zachary Dutton, the company's leader of design.
"Although moldable technology has improved, it can be difficult to work with as therapists navigate the positioning bag and patient,” said Dutton. “Several hands are needed to assist in complex cases involving the thoracic and abdominal regions. ... Additionally, many of these setups present a challenge for patients who are unable to hold both arms above their head."
The Z-Box is an add-on to be used during patient immobilization during CT simulation. The piece is fully adjustable, allowing the arm to be positioned and locked.
"ZDi has invented the only product line in the world that ensures the patient is positioned within two millimeters of their original treatment plan, thereby assuring precise radiation dose delivery to the tumor treatment site,” said Cheryl Turner, MA, ZDi's Chief Learning Officer. “This revolutionary system consists of the only specialized products that exist for immobilizing and aiding in patient positioning which decreases patient exposure risk while also limiting the liability for facilities which treat with proton therapy or conventional radiation therapy."
