Breast-care joint venture launches in Texas
Two large, Texas-based provider organizations have entered into a joint-venture agreement that, they say, will improve access to breast imaging and related services in and around Houston.
Eighteen-hospital HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division and 38-site Solis Mammography announced their collaboration Sept. 26, stating the arrangement will yield 16 local sites by the end of 2018.
They’re also planning the grand opening of a new dedicated breast health center at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, an HCA affiliate, on Oct. 2.
Solis CMO Stephen Rose, MD, will oversee the radiology component of the effort, with coverage by radiologists at Woman’s Radiology Associates and Rose Imaging Specialists, both of which are based in Houston.
In a press release sent jointly by the two organizations, Rose emphasizes the role 3D mammography will play in the mission of the joint venture.
“From my own practice, I’ve seen dramatic improvement in early detection and reduced recalls from 3D,” he says.
The move marks Solis Mammography’s third joint venture in 2017. The sprawling practice, which operates in four states plus the nation’s capital, announced a similar arrangement with the University of Chicago Medicine in May and with Einstein Healthcare Network earlier this month.
