AHIMA hosts summit on legal issues surrounding EHRs

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is hosting a summit to provide new information and industry experts’ perspectives on current and emerging issues affecting the legal EHR, evidentiary support and records management in Chicago this week.

The association said that the key issues addressed will be the management of EHRs in support of legal and business needs of healthcare organizations. The sessions also will examine emerging issues, including managing the risks of EHRs, discovery of electronic records for legal purposes and the latest in current legal decisions.

The Summit will feature multiple tracks, including: ownership issues, rules governing the legal health record, metadata and metadata data management and externally generated patient information, among others.
