Calgary Scientific reveals expanded ResolutionMD offerings

Calgary Scientific Medical Group displayed its ResolutionMD Cardiac, a suite of clinical modules for viewing and analyzing cardiac CT and MR images, scheduled to be available in early 2009, at this year’s RSNA conference. In addition, the firm demonstrated the capabilities of ResolutionMD Web, a zero-footprint display technology.

ResolutionMD Cardiac is a single, unified system for CT and MR studies for use by radiologists, cardiac radiologists and cardiologists in the screening and diagnosing of cardiac disease.

The modules included in the suite are calcium scoring, coronary analysis and ventricular function. The product can be delivered through the ResolutionMD Web advanced visualization platform or integrated within a PACS using the ResolutionMD software development kit.

ResolutionMD Cardiac allows imaging professionals to perform both anatomical and functional analysis using both CT and MR images in a unified workflow. By providing access on a web platform or integrated with PACS, the suite extends the reach of cardiac tools beyond traditional proprietary workstations.

The suite allows access to the tools where clinicians want to use them and reduces costs associated with high-end hardware. Automated tools and reporting makes completing a study more efficient, while the harmonized user interface for both CT and MR reduces the time and cost associated with learning and using multiple systems.

“This is a product the medical community asked us to develop and we are confident ResolutionMD Cardiac has all of the functionality and flexibility required by imaging professionals to improve workflow efficiency and allow for greater accessibility,” said Byron Osing, CEO of Calgary Scientific. “The introduction of this product signifies that Calgary Scientific is serious about building robust products that will function seamlessly in the virtual medical community.”

The firm also unveiled ResolutionMD Web, which provides access to all original study images and powerful advanced visualization tools using only a browser on any computer or tablet, or personal device, without downloading any software or data onto the device.

With a “zero-footprint client” ResolutionMD Web’s only requirement is a browser to access images and powerful 2D, MIP/MPR, 3D tools and ResolutionMD clinical modules.

In addition, image data is not downloaded using ResolutionMD Web, making access to a study faster while minimizing risks related to data synchronization errors or redundancies, the company said. For hospital IT, ResolutionMD Web provides a scalable and distributable enterprise solution that improves the management of thin slices by reducing the need for redundant storage.

“ResolutionMD Web is the foundation to our vision for the virtual healthcare environment that I believe will to change the way radiologists and other image-intensive professionals work,” said Osing.
