CardioNet names Thurman as president, CEO

The board of directors of CardioNet, a wireless medical technology company with a focus on the diagnosis and monitoring of cardiac arrhythmias, has appointed Randy Thurman, currently the board’s executive chairman, as interim president and CEO, effective immediately.

The board also said that it has commenced a search for a permanent replacement for departing President and CEO Arie Cohen, who has left the company to pursue other interests.

The Conshohocken, Pa.-based CardioNet said that Thurman served as chairman and CEO of Viasys Healthcare from 2001, a medical technology company that was acquired by Cardinal Health in June 2007 for $1.5 billion. Prior to Viasys, Thurman was chairman of the board and CEO of Corning Life Sciences, a medical technology company with a focus in contract pharmaceutical research, contract biologic manufacturing and clinical diagnostic testing.

In July 2008, the board appointed Thurman as executive chairman at CardioNet to replace founder Jim Sweeney.
