GE, InterComponentWare ink HIE deal

GE Healthcare and InterComponentWare (ICW) have signed a strategic agreement to integrate and co-develop their health information exchange (HIE) solutions.

Through this relationship, GE and ICW will leverage their existing solutions and co-develop new offerings for the HIE and eHealth marketplace, the comapnaies said. Using ICW's experience in eHealth and patient connectivity, GE said it will update Centricity HIE service's existing technology, patient connectivity and communications tools while adding to its security and interoperability capabilities.

The Walldorf, Germany-based ICW said its eHealth Infrastructure is in use globally with the Austrian National Health System, the German Federal Ministry for Health and Social Security's bIT4health consortium and the eHC in Bulgaria.
