Health IT guru joins Geisinger Health System

Ronald A. Paulus, MD, MBA, has joined Geisinger Health System as chief healthcare information technology venture officer. As part of this position, he will act as special assistant to the organization's president and CEO Glenn Steele Jr., MD.

In his new role, Paulus will help the company explore new and better ways to deliver healthcare to patients, as well as help to shape Geisinger's innovative projects which in turn will be marketed to return income to the health system for investment in its core patient care, education and research missions, the company said.

Paulus' previous experience includes being co-founded CareScience Inc., a company that commercialized healthcare technology developed at the University of Pennsylvania.
