IHE-Europe names new co-chair

Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE)-Europe has appointed Jacqueline Surugue as co-chair of the IHE-Europe Steering Committee. Surugue is a hospital pharmacist from the Poitou Charentes region of France where she heads the pharmacy department at the 1,200 bed Centre Hospitalier Georges Renon in Niort.

As former president of the Europea n Association of Hospital Pharmacists, Surugue has experience in both the healthcare sector and the European political arena. She was instrumental in the creation of the Pharmacy domain for IHE. Surugue was elected vice president of the Federation Internationale Pharmaceutique Hospital Section in 2006 and is an elected member of the National Council of the French Order of Pharmacists.

"In guiding IHE-Europe, I hope that I can help achieve coherent interoperability of health information systems," said Surugue.
