Lockwood, Sacco to lead AHA
The American Heart Association (AHA) has selected the national officers for the 2010-2011 fiscal year including Debra W. Lockwood, CPA, as chairman and Ralph L. Sacco, MD, as president of the association.
Lockwood is executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Provident Resources Group in Baton Rouge, La., while Sacco is professor of neurology, epidemiology and human genetics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
According to AHA, Lockwood will oversee the association’s board of directors and administrative cabinet meetings in addition to its business affairs, public relations and fundraising initiatives. Sacco, as president, will oversee medical, scientific and public health as a chief volunteer scientific and medical officer.
Additionally, AHA appointed Ron W. Haddock, chairman of AEI Services, Safety-Kleen Systems and Rubicon Offshore International, as its secretary-treasurer, while William H. Roach Jr., a law firm partner of McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago, was tapped as chairman-elect.
Lastly, Gordon F. Tomaselli, MD, of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, was selected as AHA’s president-elect.
Tomaselli is director of the Johns Hopkins’ division of cardiology and has been a member of the national board of directors and administrative cabinet for the past four years.
The appointments were effective July 1, the beginning of AHAs fiscal year.
