Vangent releases HIE software tool

Vangent is releasing an open-source software tool, known as Health Information Exchange Open source (HIEOS), for the secure exchange of health information from multiple and disparate system and data sources.

According to the Arlington, Va.-based Vangent, which provides consulting, systems integration, and business processing outsourcing services, HIEOS is part of its open architecture based-health information exchange solution offered to entities—ranging from federal and state government agencies to hospitals and regional health information organizations—that need to exchange data across mixed information technology environments.

The company said its tool has been selected by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT as a default XDS.b enterprise service component within the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) CONNECT Gateway Version 2.2.
