Verizon, Medco debut mobile med management app

Verizon Wireless and Medco Health Solutions have released a mobile application that can guide patients and their doctors to the lower cost prescription drugs and help them identify potentially harmful drug interactions.

Available now on Verizon Wireless Android handsets and Research in Motion BlackBerry devices, the new Medco Pharmacy mobile app delivers  information to help members manage their prescription medications, stated Verizon, of Basking Ridge, N.J.; and Medco, of Franklin Lakes, N.J.

The Medco Pharmacy mobile application, available for download in V Cast Apps, provides out-of-pocket cost information for any prescription drug and lower cost options specific to a person’s prescription drug plan.

The application also can send drug interaction alerts based on the patient’s prescription history, even if the patient is treated by several doctors or fills prescriptions at many different pharmacies.
