Vital Images names, promotes executive VPs
Vital Images Inc. this week announced that effective immediately Susan A. Wood, Ph.D. will serve as executive vice president of marketing and clinical development. Additionally, the company has promoted Philip I. Smith to executive vice president, corporate development, and Steven P. Canakes as executive vice president, global sales.
Most recently, Wood has served as COO of Medicsight, PLC, based in London. She also spent seven years at R2 Technology, Inc., with vice president of marketing her most recent post. Wood also spent nearly three years at ISG Technology (formerly Cedara Software, now Merge Healthcare). Wood also is the co-inventor of a number of innovations in medical imaging for which United States and foreign patents are pending.
Smith has been serving as the company's vice president of marketing and corporate development since February 2004. He was involved in the HInnovation, Inc. acquisition and has been integral in developing the company's key relationships.
Canakes moves up from vice president, sales, a post he has held since March 1998. Since Canakes joined the company in 1998, sales have grown from $4.5 million in 1998 to $36.1 million in 2004, and the company expects to do $48 to $50 million in revenue for 2005, Vital Images said.
