Viztek adds cloud to Opal PACS offering

Viztek has added a cloud-based, pay-per-use offering to its family of Opal PACS applications for radiology and orthopedic departments.

Viztek eases sharing images with users outside of a single institution because its new cloud deployments eliminate the need to connect to a facility’s onsite server and obviate the complexities of implementing a VPN, according to the Garner, N.C.-based company.

Viztek's cloud-based technology hosts IT applications and data on offsite servers, enabling physicians in different medical facilities to access prior exams for comparison and to view recent images for patients newly transferred to a facility, Viztek said.
