A federal report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed 14 mysterious cases of sudden, severe amnesia in Massachusetts between 2012 and 2016, noted by medical researchers.
After each of the 14 had their brains scanned, writers reported that all of the patients shared one thing in common: reduced bloodflow to the hippocampus.
Patients had a median age of 35, which is considered a young age to be diagnosed with amnesia. The researchers were surprised that all of patients tested positive for drugs, but they weren’t the same ones.
