MRI Interventions announces Joseph Burnett as new president, CEO
MRI Interventions announced in an Oct. 9 release that Joseph Burnett as its new president and CEO, effective Nov. 7. According to a press release from Global Newswire, MRI Interventions’ current president, Frank Grillo, will continue in the role until Nov. 6 and for a period of time after will serve as the company’s executive advisor. Grillo has served as president and CEO for MRI Interventions for the last three years.

Joe is a strong leader with unique and highly relevant qualifications in the medical device industry and neurology,” said Kimble Jenkins, MRI Interventions Chairman of the Board of Directors, in the company’s press release. “With his experience and expertise, Joe is ideally suited to lead the company’s next phase of growth, building on the strong foundation established over the last three years under Frank’s leadership.”
Burnett started his career working in the cardiovascular department at Guidant and Volcano. Most recently, he worked in Neurology and Neurosurgery at Philips, serving as the vice president and general manager. Other important operational responsibilities held throughout his career include R&D, clinical research, sales and marketing.

Burnett has an impressive track record with his entire career focused in medical devices. He holds a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and an MBA from the Duke’s Fuqua Business School.
