Siemens aligns with St. James Hospital and Health Centers

Siemens Medical Solutions will partner with St. James Hospital and Health Centers, of Olympia Fields, Ill., to develop a new state-of-the-art Heart and Vascular Institute.

The five-year, exclusive strategic alliance is designed to enhance cardiac research with an eye toward the study, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. The 48,000-square-foot Institute is scheduled to open later this year.

Siemens will contribute five Axiom Artis cath labs equipped with flat-panel detector technology for diagnostic and interventional catheter, electrophysiology, peripheral and vascular procedures; a Somatom Sensation 16 CT for coronary angiography, calcium scoring, full body and conventional CT imaging; dual head e-cam with cardiac imaging capabilities, and an Acuson echocardiography system.

St. James Hospital and Health Centers serve more than 550,000 people in the south suburbs of Chicago.
