Toshiba, SCCT issue young investigator awards
The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) and Toshiba America Medical Systems have announced the recipients of the fourth annual Young Investigator Award at the SCCT’s 2010 annual scientific meeting in Las Vegas earlier this month.
Raman Dusaj, MD, from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., and Thomas Smith, MD, from Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles, were awarded for their patient care research in technical and clinical advancement of cardiovascular CT, said the society.
Dusaj's study was titled "Estimation of Right Atrial and Ventricular Pressure by CT Coronary Angiography," while Smith's was "Assessment of the Morphologic Features of Degenerative Mitral Valve Disease Using 64-slice Multidetector Computed Tomography."
According to Tustin, Calif.-based Toshiba, which sponsors the awards, the two winners were selected by an independent panel of five editorial advisors from five finalists who presented their work at the meeting. Each finalist will receive a free year of membership with SCCT and both Dusaj and Smith will be published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
