GE, India govt. enter public-private partnership for CTs, MRIs
GE Healthcare has signed a memorandum of understanding to supply CT and MRI systems in teaching hospitals/medical colleges in Gujarat, India, as part of a public-private partnership with the state’s government to upgrade its medical technology.
Under the arrangement, GE will install its BrightSpeed CT and high-definition MR systems in five medical colleges and hospitals located in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar. The new facilities will be operational in five to seven months, according to The Economic Times.
"This unique public-private partnership in the country will provide advanced healthcare technology to people at affordable costs which will be 30 to 50 per cent less than that charged by private clinics," according to Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas.
GE said it plans to invest Rs.350 million ($8 million) on equipment, reported The Economic Times.
