Philips releases portable, patient monitor series for emerging Indian market
Royal Philips Electronics has released its Philips SureSigns VM3, a series of new portable, compact patient monitors, which are now available to healthcare providers in India and are designed for emerging markets.
The Philips SureSigns VM3 offers ECG, respiration and pulse oximetry in one compact monitor that helps provide quality care in clinical settings, the company said. It offers vital signs measurement and monitoring in a system that can be used in departments throughout hospitals, nursing homes, private practices and rural clinics, as well as ambulances and mobile facilities.
To meet the healthcare demands in India, people in urban areas have seen the construction of new hospitals and associated satellite facilities, which has fueled the demand for healthcare equipment across segments of the Indian patient monitoring equipment market is estimated to reach $42 million in 2010, according to the company. Philips said it hopes to garner a market share of 40 percent by 2010.
