Toshiba to build $48M CT development, service centers in Japan

Toshiba Medical Systems plans to build CT system development and service locations at the location its parent company’s headquarters in Otawara, Japan, by the end of the year.

The company will spend approximately 5 billion yen ($47.8 million) to construct a three-story development building and a two-story service building that will have a combined 31,000 sq. meters of floor space. The company has the facilities slated to be open for service in early 2009.

The new service center, will offer training for doctors and technicians from hospitals that have installed the company’s equipment. In addition, the company said support functions for overseas call centers will be installed to create a structure that can respond to inquiries from hospitals globally.
