Fujifilm Healthcare providing image data management for Pentagon

Fujifilm Healthcare Americas has received authorization from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to operate its enterprise imaging platform on DoD networks. With this authorization, Fujifilm Healthcare can now offer its Synapse 7x service to all organizations within the DoD, enabling the entire federal body to use the PACS-enabled software. 

According to a release from Fujifilm Healthcare, Synapse 7x integrates data and imaging from various medical disciplines, including radiology, mammography, cardiology, and 3D imaging, using server-side rendering technology that is both hardware independent and operates from the cloud. 

For the last five years an older version of the system, Synapse 5, has operated on DoD networks, providing medical image data storage and management.

“The U.S. Government standards for security are extremely high, demonstrating Fujifilm has exceeded the strictest expectations for securing our technology,” Bill Lacy, a senior vice president at Fujifilm Healthcare, said in a statement. “We are proud to have earned the ATO for our Synapse 7x Enterprise Imaging technology, which is poised to improve data access throughout the Military Health System.”

Synapse 7x will be available for demonstration at the upcoming Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) exhibition on Nov. 26-30.
