Georgia’s Largest Private Physician Group Installs CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution Systems at Its Two Busiest Clinics

Harbin Clinic (Rome, Georgia), the largest privately owned multi-specialty physician group in Georgia, purchased and installed two wireless CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution DR Rooms at its orthopaedic clinic and main clinic. These are the two busiest locations for routine radiology procedures in the group’s 23-site system.

“The DRX-Evolution at our orthopaedic clinic has greatly improved our workflow and enhances service for both orthopaedic surgeons and patients,” explains Fred Hastings, Harbin Clinic’s Director of Operations. “We replaced an existing DR system because the DRX-Evolution offered us the benefits of next-generation DR technology—greater flexibility, ease of use, automated hardware features and advanced software functionality.”

Achieving a streamlined process is extremely important because patients first meet with their orthopaedic surgeon, have an imaging study, and then go back for a consultation. “Within five minutes we can position the patient, capture the exam, and send the images to the surgeon. The surgeon is reading the X-ray study by the time the patient is back in the office, so both our surgeons and patients are happy,” Hastings notes. “The DRX-Evolution system combined with Carestream’s specialized software also expedites long-length imaging, which is an important advantage for this location.”

He added that the DRX-Evolution at the busy main clinic equips technologists to capture high-quality images for all types of imaging studies in seconds—reducing wait times for patients and helping physicians and their staffs stay on schedule.

Harbin Clinic managers and technologists evaluated several wireless DR room systems but selected Carestream because they ranked it highest in image quality and ease of use. The multi-physician group has CARESTREAM CRand DR systems in other locations, so having a consistent user interface helps technologists enhance productivity, according to Hastings. He adds that “Carestream’s reliable equipment and exceptional service” also were important factors in their purchasing decision.

Each DRX-Evolution system is configured with a motorized overhead tube, motorized wall stand and an automated table for convenient, efficient patient positioning. The system can automatically capture and stitch long-length images in the upright and supine position.

Another important benefit is the ability to move DRX detectors to any DRX system. “As we continue to upgrade other X-ray rooms, being able to move a detector among multiple DRX systems can provide significant workflow advantages while reducing costs,” he adds.
