Enterprise imaging software takes aim at managing actionable incidental findings

Softek Illuminate has unveiled Discovery360, an enterprise service designed to alleviate the follow-up responsibilities related to patients' actionable incidental findings (AIFs).

According to a statement from Softek, its artificial intelligence-powered software enables healthcare systems to efficiently manage and track AIFs, allowing radiologists to focus on their core tasks of identification and diagnosis without being burdened by follow-up procedures. Discovery360 ensures all AIFs in clinical reports receive attention, regardless of whether they explicitly recommend follow-up actions.

Softek says its platform provides unified enterprise IT management, eliminating staffing challenges associated with AIF identification across various care settings. Further, the vendor's aim is to help radiology departments to better manage images and make use of data in electronic health records to improve care.

"Radiologists are innately concerned with whether their patients are appropriately followed up upon, as the radiology contribution to care quality is often measured," Mark Perry, MD, a radiologist at University of Kansas Medical Center, said in the statement. "Software and services like Discovery 360 can save radiology a significant amount of time and energy by standardizing follow-up workflows while ensuring the quality of patient care is improved."

Softek said it’s also working to introduce “workflow conscious AI” to Discovery360, offering healthcare organizations disease-specific management, as well as automated radiology report and image readings and analysis.

The company’s full suite of applications will be demonstrated at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago on Nov. 26-30.
