Healthcare staff, including radiologists, are done with the congratulatory clapping they’ve received during the ongoing pandemic; they want a pay increase.

Last month, National Health Service workers in the U.K. took to the streets to demand a pay raise, and thousands of others marched during protests encouraging better recognition of healthcare staff. Much of the unrest stems from the country’s Treasury department boosting pay for NHS doctors in July, but leaving out nurses and other healthcare workers, Vice News reported Thursday.

The news outlet spoke with a radiologist who has worked throughout COVID-19, who said the government has ignored NHS staff such as herself.

“We’ve come into contact with all COVID patients suspected or confirmed as they all get chest x-rays,” the woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said to Vice. “I think that’s been largely forgotten about in the media.”

Medical students also expressed second thoughts about their future, including potential pay. Many were fast-tracked to help with the pandemic in March, but have been forced into side jobs to make ends meet and cover the fees associated with completing a degree.
