Virginia’s governor gets behind new type of ultrasound
With jobs on his mind and the “future of healthcare” in his heart, a state governor has gone out of his way to both support and promote the budding therapeutic technology of focused ultrasound.
Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia earlier helped guide the state’s investment of several million dollars to launch the Focused Ultrasound Center at the University of Virginia. On Aug. 22 he paid a visit to the Focused Ultrasound Foundation in Charlottesville.
The technology has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of essential tremor, and research is planned to test its safety and efficacy countering the effects of epilepsy.
