2012 Olympics to go paperless
The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) will, for the first time, use EMRs for managing athlete care at this summer's Olympic Games in London.
According to a release, the USOC will use GE Healthcare's Centricity Practice to manage the care of more than 700 athletes competing in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as for 3,000 additional records maintained by USOC staff. The technology will replace pallets of paper records historically shipped by the USOC to the Games.
The USOC also will connect GE Centricity Practice Solution with GE's Centricity PACS-IW software technology for medical record image viewing and storage.
