ACS nets $130 million Alaskan contract
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHHS) has chosen Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) to design, develop, implement and operate a new Medicaid management information system (MMIS). The contract, which has a total value of $130 million if three one-year options are exercised, is valid for up to 10 years.
As part of the alliance, ACS will replace the current MMIS system that has been in operation since 1987. The Dallas-based ACS will provide claims processing, operations call center support, decision support and healthcare analytics, and pharmacy support, according to the Alaska DHHS.
The current system in use by the Alaska DHHS pays more than $1 billion to providers who bill medical assistance programs such as Medicaid. With the new MMIS, electronic billing and payments will be simplified for doctors, according to ACS.
