Carestream lands DR installs at VCU

Richmond’s Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center has purchased two Carestream DRX-Evolution suites for the ED and converted five mobile x-ray units to the DRX-Mobile Retrofit.

Both systems wirelessly transmit images to PACS, while the Mobile Retrofit kits integrate with GE Healthcare, Siemens Healthcare and Shimadzu x-ray devices making for cassette-size DRX-1 detectors, the Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream said. Captured images arrive on PACS within approximately five minutes, according to Richard Fowlkes, diagnostics manager at the 779-bed institution.
