The American Roentgen Ray Society has awarded its highest honor to pediatric radiologist Edward Y. Lee, MD, MPH, the society announced Tuesday.
ARRS will formally present Lee, of Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, with the 2022 Gold Medal during its annual meeting in New Orleans May 1. The award, established in 1983, recognizes Lee’s “distinguished service to radiology.”
Among his many accolades, Lee is credited with developing new techniques to advance pediatric thoracic imaging and education around the world. He also integrated optimal imaging performance and interpretation across all modalities for pediatric disorders at Boston Children’s Hospital, where he serves as an associate professor of radiology.
Lee founded the Thoracic Imaging Committee of the Society for Pediatric Radiology and also served as its chair. He founded and became president of the International Society of Pediatric Thoracic Imaging. Currently, the award winner is chair of the Pediatric Thoracic Committee of the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging.
In addition to his many clinical leadership roles, Lee has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, seven pediatric radiology textbooks and served on the editorial boards of 30 radiology journals, including a Radiological Society of North America Editorial Fellowship.
