California health system supports initiative with Eclipsys

Cottage Health System of Santa Barbara, Calif., will utilize a combination of Eclipsys’ ambulatory and health information exchange (HIE) tools to support its eHealth Partnership initiative.

Designed to promote safety and overall quality of care, the eHealth Partnership will utilize Eclipsys’ PeakPractice EMR/practice management tool, along with Eclipsys HealthXchange, powered by Medicity, to link participating community physicians with Cottage’s Sunrise Enterprise inpatient technology environment, according to the Atlanta-based Eclipsys.

The arrangements will centralize the availability of secure access to electronic patient data across facilities for the continuity of care, practice efficiency and caregivers in their decision making process.

Because HealthXchange is vendor-neutral, physicians interested in participating in the eHealth Partnership will have the choice of implementing PeakPractice or keeping their heritage EMR system.
